Giving talks at the Montclair Women’s Club always evokes a strong connection to the generations of members who have gathered there. So it was a great pleasure to share the stage with Ann McKinstry Micou, D. Litt., to update members on recent research in our archives.

The availability of digitized, searchable images from the Montclair Times has really accelerated the process of confirming key facts in club history. Some examples of useful articles include an article about the Questers, a no-longer-extant junior division of the club, and a piece on the formation of an Evening Department for members who couldn’t attend daytime meetings. (Links to .pdf files follow.)

Ann Micou, who has been cataloguing the archives of Quest magazine, shared insights into this particularly dynamic aspect of the club’s past.  Published for just over fifty years beginning in 1930, Quest is a unique trove of information, offering insight into how members viewed their world across the decades. We hope to make .pdf files of Ann’s detailed Quest finding aids available soon.

All in all, it’s great to share what we learn through these vivid records from our club’s history!
